  15. Have you ever considered about adding a little bit more than just your articles?
I mean, what you say is fundamental and everything.
But just imagine if you added some great graphics or videos
to give your posts more, "pop"! Your content is excellent but with pics and video clips, this blog could
undeniably be one of the best in its niche.
    Wonderful blog!

  23. Hi,
I am Jeffrey Gooch. My email is gooch@rhs.msu.edu. My dads name is Julian Gooch. He was born on the family farm located Lincoln Co. KY

My grandparents were Jess and Estelle (True) Gooch. Grandpa Jess also had a brother Craig Gooch. Jess moved to Detroit maybe early 1940's and Craig moved to Oscoda, Mich prob about same time. Dad used to talk about driving up there as young as 14, which would be 1945

My great grandparents would be Craig and Ella (Holtzclaw) Gooch. There were birth and marriage records in Lincoln Co. KY but I didn't want to pay for it.

I'm looking for a possible link to 1 of the 3 Gooch'es from Lincoln.

    1. Jeff - I believe the Gooch's in KY WV and IN have early roots in VA and they are all related. There were a lot of Gooch's around - even back in Colonial Times. When you look through the old records, it is hard to keep them separated. They all used the same given names for their kids - William, John, Jesse and Thomas were big favorites for boys, along with Sarah, Mary, Elizabeth and Pearl for the girls. Whew! It makes your head swim.

    2. There were three main migration tracks the early Gooch's in central VA could take back then - west into KY, west into TN and south to NC and SC. From there, they kept right on migrating - as new land was opened up for homesteading and new opportunities came up. My bunch was in SC by the early 1800's but they frequently traveled up to KY. I know they had family connections there but I have not been able to get the specifics about it yet. They got around more than I thought they would.

  25. I am a Member of the Board of Directors of the Imogen F. Wilson Education Foundation, which owns the Mimbres Culture Heritage Site (the location of the Gooch House (built by Benjamin F. Gooch in 1891) in Grant County, NM. We have a museum and archaeological interpretive trails on the property; with a mission of relating the continuous occupation of this valley for nearly 2000 years. Part of the history we relate to visitors is the story of Benjamin F. Gooch, and his killing of J. P. Ross in October of 1903. On special occasions we have a re-enactment of that event. We are continually trying to update our information about him, his wife Kate, and children. I would be particularly interested in finding any photographs of the family for the museum.
